In Minnesota’s Seventh Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson won re-election last week with 54 percent of the vote. The win was unusual not only in that Peterson’s race saw a huge influx of outside cash for and against him but also because Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney also won 54 percent of the vote in that district in 2012 (the same year Peterson won re-election with 60 percent of the vote.) How unusual is the split voting? “There are now only five (House districts) that backed Romney but supported Democrats this year: AZ-1, FL-2, FL-18, MN-7, and NE-2,” the Washington Post said.
