Star Tribune endorses Steve Cwodzinski for #SD48! Way to go #cwodsquad!
Posted by SD48 DFL Communications Team in Steve Cwodzinski
The StarTribune has endorsed Steve Cwodzinski for the SD48 seat in an endorsement appearing on their website October 31, 2016, and in print November 1, 2016:
Senate GOP Minority Leader David Hann is in the toughest re-election fight of his 14-year legislative career for two good reasons. One: Hann’s positions on issues — particularly on Southwest light rail — are out of sync with those of many residents in his Eden Prairie district. And two: He has an uncommonly appealing opponent in DFLer Steve Cwodzinski.
Our nod goes to challenger Cwodzinski, a recently retired government teacher at Eden Prairie High School. Hann’s dedication to public service and his willingness to shoulder leadership responsibilities for his caucus in the past four years are admirable. But Eden Prairie would be well-served by the passion for public problem-solving that Cwodzinski would bring to the Legislature.
Cwodzinski reminded us of another educator who took on an entrenched Republican incumbent. Like the late U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone, Cwodzinski, 58, exudes infectious enthusiasm for democracy and optimism about its potential to make lives better. (more…)

Meet and Greet with Governor Carlson and Steve Cwodzinski ~ Sat. Oct. 22 at 9 am
Posted by SD48 DFL Communications Team in Events, Steve Cwodzinski
Cwodzinski Earns Endorsement of
Vice President Mondale and Governor Carlson
“Steve represents the kind of candidate I’ve been proud to support throughout my career,” Mondale said in a statement. “He is a hard working, service-oriented person who will govern with fiscal responsibility and an eye for opportunity. In this era of reactionary and incendiary politics, Steve’s optimism and common sense will allow him to reach across the aisle and get results for the people in his district. I am pleased to endorse Steve Cwodzinski for Minnesota Senate.”
Vice President Walter Mondale is one of the most well-known and respected political figures in Minnesota. Throughout his distinguished career, Vice President Mondale routinely put his constituents above party.
As a popular two-term governor of Minnesota, Governor Carlson worked across party lines to pass meaningful legislation to grow the economy and improve the lives of every day Minnesotans.
“Minnesota has a reputation as a good-government state, a place where reasonable people can enact reasonable policies. Steve Cwodzinski is just that kind of reasonable person.” Carlson said in his endorsement. “Steve has the open minded, common sense approach that will rise above partisan gridlock and focus on the challenges and opportunities facing Minnesota families. And, importantly, Steve is personally committed to sound, long-term financial planning that ends the cycle of crisis budget cuts and surplus spending. Steve Cwodzinski will serve the people of his district with integrity and prudence.”
“I’m honored by the endorsement of two of Minnesota’s pre-eminent statesmen.” Steve Cwodzinski said. “Both Governor Carlson and Vice President Mondale are champions of good governance and real world role models of a bi-partisan approach. In a political arena full of gridlock and winner-take-all politics, these endorsements represent the hope and passion I will bring to the Minnesota Senate. I look forward to meeting the challenges ahead and creating new opportunities for Minnesota families to thrive.”
Governor Carlson will join Steve Cwodzinski at a meet and greet event for campaign volunteers on Saturday, October 22 at the Minnetonka Community Center. Governor Carlson and Steve Cwodzinski will give brief remarks and take questions before a volunteer training and door knock.
WHO: Steve Cwodzinski and Governor Arne Carlson

Steve Cwodzinski earns endorsement from Eden Prairie Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens
Posted by SD48 DFL Communications Team in Steve Cwodzinski
Steve Cwodzinski has been a 30-year community advocate, and now is our DFL-endorsed candidate for State Senate 48 running against Minority Leader David Hann. We’re honored to announce he has earned endorsements from four prominent local officials. While local endorsements are not uncommon in elections, Steve has recently earned the endorsement of Eden Prairie Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens.
In addition to Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens, Cwodzinski received endorsements from:
- Minnetonka Mayor Terry Schneider
- Eden Prairie City Councilor Ron Case, and
- Minnetonka City Council Member Bob Ellingson.
The latest round of endorsements adds more momentum to Cwodzinski’s vibrant campaign. The first-time candidate has earned dozens of endorsements from current and former elected officials and community organizations.
Steve is committed to ensuring that Minnesota continues to lead the nation in job growth and quality of living.
“Steve is committed to ensuring that Minnesota continues to lead the nation in job growth and quality of living. He is a unique candidate that understands both education and our community. That’s why I’m finally endorsing a candidate for State Senate in 48. I don’t believe in endorsing candidates because I can, I endorse the candidates that I know will do the best for our community”, said Mayor Terry Schneider.
To stay up-to-date on what’s happening with Steve’s campaign, please visit his website. There, you can check out upcoming events, keep up on his endorsements, volunteer and make a secure online contribution. And, like his Facebook page here.
