Apply to be a DFL48 District Officer

Every two years, the DFL invites our fellow Democrats to help lead the Senate District. This is a great opportunity to set the course for the 2018 election and for the future. All DFLers are welcome!

All positions are open and will serve two-year terms.

  • SD48 Director (10 adults and 3 youth)
  • State Central Committee Representative (5 positions)
  • State Central Committee Alternative Representative (7 positions)

The Senate District Central Committee meets monthly, on the second Thursday of the month at the Glen Lake Community Center at 7:00 PM. The Chair and Vice Chair become automatic members of the DFL State Central Committee which meets quarterly on Saturdays at various locations across Minnesota. Here’s How You Can Get Involved in Senate District 48 DFL

At our 2014 Senate District convention Saturday, March 8, we will be electing officers. To be considered, please complete the form (you can save your answers in this PDF) below:

and send it to or . Closer to the convention, you will screen with the Nomination Committee, which will make a recommendation to the convention.

Here are the positions that will be filled in March:

Thirteen Directors

Senate District 48 Directors are active in and integral to the success of Senate District 48. They may chair a working committee or perform ad-hoc functions assigned to them from time to time by the Executive Committee.

Roles may include:

  • Volunteer Directors
  • Fundraising Director
  • Communications Director
  • Candidate and Support Director
  • Events Director
  • Forums and Guest Speaker Director
  • Phone Tree Director, etc.

based on the district’s needs during a given time frame.

At least two directors will be between 18 and 22 years of age.

State Central Committee Delegates and Alternates

These individuals are elected to a two-year term to:

  • Attend the State Central Committee meetings wherever and whenever they are held around the state
  • Vote on party issues and business.

People accepting these positions make a firm commitment to attend the full series of meetings around the state, from start to finish.

The two-year cycle, the district will have 4 gender balanced delegates and 4 alternates. The Senate District Chair and Vice Chair are automatic delegates to this committee.
