Apply to be a DFL48 District Officer

Every two years, the DFL invites our fellow Democrats to help lead the Senate District. This is a great opportunity to set the course for the 2018 election and for the future. All DFLers are welcome!

All positions are open and will serve two-year terms.

  • SD48 Director (10 adults and 3 youth)
  • State Central Committee Representative (5 positions)
  • State Central Committee Alternative Representative (7 positions)

The Senate District Central Committee meets monthly, on the second Thursday of the month at the Glen Lake Community Center at 7:00 PM. The Chair and Vice Chair become automatic members of the DFL State Central Committee which meets quarterly on Saturdays at various locations across Minnesota. Please see detailed position descriptions below for more information.

Application Process:

  1. To be considered for any of the available positions, we would prefer to receive your form by March 2, 2018.
  2. Interviews with the Nominations Committee will be scheduled for Saturday, March 3rd, 9 am – 3 pm at the Minnetonka Community Center (map), and if necessary, Monday evening, March 5th, 7-9pm, at the Glen Lake Activity Center (map). Please go to this link to schedule a time and date that works best for you.
  3. We encourage you to attend the Senate District 48 DFL Convention on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM and stand for election.

Descriptions of Available Positions

Director   (13 positions) [10 adult, 3 youth]

Term of Office: Two Years
Meetings: Monthly, the second Thursday of the month

  • Attend monthly meetings of the Senate District
  • Vote on issues that come before the Senate District
  • Directors may assume the Chairmanship of a Working Committee or perform ad-hoc functions assigned to them from time to time by the Executive Committee

State Central Committee Member   (5 positions)

Term of Office: Two Years
Meetings: Quarterly

  • Attend quarterly meetings of the State Central Committee at various locations around the state
  • Discuss party issues, training and outreach, and party building
  • Participate in sub-committee activities
  • Vote on issues that come before the Committee
  • Report back to the Senate District 48 Central Committee

State Central Committee Member – Alternate  (7 positions)

Term of Office: Two Years
Meetings: Quarterly

  • Attend quarterly meetings of the State Central Committee and vote on issues that come before the Committee in the absence of a regular member
