Events today
- 7:30 a.m. – Gov. Dayton will attend a meeting of the Minnesota Senate DFL Rural Caucus.
- 10 a.m. – Jessica Webster, of Minnesota Legal Aid and TANF Taskforce member, will hold a news conference to reveal “major problems” facing Minnesota’s Welfare-to-Work program. The legislatively created TANF Taskforce’s Report on TANF Expenditures is expected to be released early this week.
- 10:45 a.m. – Republican legislators will hold a news conference highlighting “Saluting Service” bills provide opportunities for Minnesota’s military retirees. Sen. Paul Gazelka, Sen. Carla Nelson, Rep. Mary Kiffmyer, Sen. David Hann, Rep. Eric Lucero, and Rep. bob Dettmer.
- 1:30 p.m. – Human Services Commissioner Lucinda Jesson will visit Super School-Age Care in Rochester Tuesday to highlight budget proposals from Gov. Dayton that would increase access to quality child care.
- 2:30 p.m. – Faculty from University of Minnesota who are leaders in the organizing drive to form their union, along with students from the University, will visit the State Capitol to continue their call for more transparency in faculty governance at the U of M. After meeting with legislators, the group will attend the joint Higher Education committee hearing. Faculty and student leaders will be available for comment shortly before the 2:45 hearing.
- 5 p.m. – IRRRB holds reorganizational meeting. Room 300 South, State Office Building, St. Paul.
- 6:30 p.m. – DNR public meeting on deer population goal-setting. Hinckley High School, 201 Main St., Hinckley.
