DFL48 | Restoring Common Sense Minnesota Values

The PCR is Back!

What’s the PCR? For years, the State of Minnesota had a program in place where individuals  are able to contribute to a fund for state political party units or candidates running for state office and receive a rebate for that contribution.

That Means You Can Contribute to Us for Free!

Here’s the details:  a registered voter can contribute $50 to Senate District 48 DFL ($100 for a couple), we’ll provide you with a receipt and form to complete and mail to the State of Minnesota. In 4 to 6 weeks, you’ll receive a check for $50 ($100 for a couple) from the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

Your contribution is a local, grass roots investment that will directly help Democratic candidates at the local, state, and national levels. It will help us build local infrastructure, train volunteers, publicize our progressive message, groom local candidates for higher office, and generously fund candidates in 2012.

Time is running out for a free donation to Senate District 48 DFL!

We have a lot to be proud of here in Minnesota: DFL leaders raised the minimum wage, invested in our students with all-day kindergarten and turned a budget deficit into a surplus. But our leaders’ work isn’t done yet, and they won’t be satisfied until every Minnesotan can access all the opportunities our state offers.

To keep up the fight for every Minnesotan, we need to continue to elect DFLers. To do that, we need well-funded local units and unfortunately time to donate for free to Senate District 48 DFL is running out.

The popular Political Contribution Refund (PCR) Program is ending, which means you only have until June 30 to make your contribution to the DFL and be refunded up to $50 for individuals or $100 for couples.

We need you to take advantage of this critical moment and make a donation before the PCR ends, so we can keep moving Minnesota forward. June 30 will be the last chance to take advantage of the PCR and support the DFL for free – so don’t wait. Please, give now!

Send your donation to Senate District 48 DFL, 18285 Croixwood Ln, Eden Prairie, MN 55347 or donate online. We will send you a receipt and a form to submit to the state for reimbursement.

Please donate today so we can elect DFL leaders we can count on to build a better Minnesota for all.

Update from Rep. Selcer

Yvonne Selcer copy 2As you may have seen in the news, it has been busy over at the state capitol.  It is an honor to serve on the House Education Finance, Education Innovation Policy, and Government Operations and Elections committees.  I have also been appointment to the Government Operations and Elections Committee’s subcommittee on Metropolitan Council oversight, in addition to having been appointed to the MN P-20 Partnership and continuing to serve on our bi-partisan House Small Business Caucus and bi-partisan Childhood Obesity Working group. I will also be joining a bi-partisan caucus dealing with ways we can assist our Minnesota veterans.

We have spent a good amount of time on overviews in committee, as we have another large Freshman class to assist in getting up to speed. We have just begun to hear bills in committee, and passed disaster relief off the House floor. . I am working on authoring and co-authoring a number of bills, including being the chief author of legislation to bond for the SW LRT, and will keep you apprised as more legislation rolls out.

You have seen in the media accounts of the Governor’s budget, as well as bills being brought forward by the Senate DFL majority and the House GOP majority. There is an emphasis on education and transportation this session, and I hope that you will continue to share your thoughts and questions with me on these and other issues of importance to you as we move forward.  As always, thank you for the honor of being your voice in St. Paul.

Were you elected a delegate at your 2014 precinct caucus? If so, you are also a delegate for our 2015 convention. The details are still coming together, but we do have the date, time and location:

Where:  Glen Lake Activity Center, 14350 Excelsior Blvd, Minnetonka, MN

When:  Thursday, May 14, 2015, 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Update from State Senate Candidate Laurie McKendry

14-11-McKendry-200x300I love living here. And, I feel this even more strongly the more people here in Eden Prairie and Minnetonka. It’s the conversations I’ve had with you that I’m running for the Minnesota Senate — to put people before politics.

I’ll be going door-to-door in our district as soon as the weather permits and hope I’ll catch you home.  If I miss you, or if you’d like to let me know your thoughts now, please visit my website and complete the survey? I believe before you listen to politicians’ promises, shouldn’t they listen to you first?

Update from Joan Howe-Pullis

Joan Howe-Pullis & Young DemsEarlier this year, I was happy to attend the Minnesota AFL-CIO Path to Power Campaign and Candidate Training. Throughout the two-day course, expert campaigners and trainers shared valuable information to empower candidates to run effective and authentic campaigns. It is true that every campaign is different, and in the thick of the election season, each candidate’s campaign can seem isolated. Sharing best practices and building relationships among fellow DFL candidates and key campaign activists was a wonderful experience of building shared competency, community and power! More trainings are planned for the future. I recommend that anyone interested take the time to attend a training and increase the effectiveness of your campaigning efforts in 2016. And, of course, I would welcome any questions anyone interested in joining my team may have.

Minnesota GOP Has Strong Fundraising Month

The Republican Party of Minnesota has issued a release citing the strongest fundraising last month in years.

Why are we telling you this?  Remember 2010 when the state Republicans when into debt to win so many elections so they controlled the Legislature? Let’s not let that happen again.

How can you help?

Dollar Sign, jpgIf you haven’t made a contribution to a state candidate yet this year, you can make a secure contribution to SD48 DFL here.  The first $50 of that will be refunded by the State of Minnesota. In past years, the Republicans in our state have had substantially more members make these contributions and get their refund that Democrats have.  Let’s reverse that trend this year.

If you watch much television, you might have caught a cable television ad for one of the House District 48B candidates purchased by an outside group. We’ve found they’ve made a media buy of almost $12,000. That’s the playing field we’re dealing with this year.

Only you can help us help our candidates with your contribution. You can make a secure, online contribution here.
