Selcer puts students first

When Yvonne Selcer became our state representative two years ago, I knew that with her background in education and business, she would get things accomplished for our state. Thanks to her, our students are off to a strong start this school year.

Rep. Selcer supported our youngest learners by voting to provide free all-day kindergarten for every child and expanding scholarships for preschool. It’s an investment that will help close the achievement gap, prepare our children for grade school, and save families thousands of dollars. Rep. Selcer also authored a school lunch bill that passed unanimously in the Minnesota House. As a result, children from low-income families will never be denied a hot lunch if they are unable to pay for it.

U of M and MnSCU students are also benefiting from Rep. Selcer’s investments in education. She reduced student debt by freezing tuition for two years and approving the largest financial aid increase in over a decade. It comes as welcome news after tuition had more than doubled over the past 10 years.

Education is a top priority for Rep. Yvonne Selcer. I plan to vote for her on Tuesday, Nov. 4, because there is no question she will always put Minnesota students first.
