“Fix it right, fix it now”

04.17.15.TransportationRallyMinnesotans supporting a comprehensive funding package to fix the state’s deteriorating roads and bridges and to make smart investments in transits turned out in force at a rally April 16, 2015, in front of the State Capitol.

People waved signs stating “Fix it right, Fix it now” among the crowd of transit supporters, bike riders and construction workers. Representatives from labor, the faith community, local units of government, and legislators made the case for long-term, reliable transportation funding.  More than half of Minnesota’s roads are 50 years or older and 40 percent of bridges are 40 years or older.

“This is about all of us and our kids and our grandkids,” said Gov. Dayton. “We’ve avoided this for too long.”
