Events today

• 9:30 a.m. – Gov. Dayton will provide remarks and present a proclamation at “WE Day” at the Xcel Energy Center.
• 11:30 a.m. – Senate Health, Human Services and Housing committee meets.
• Noon – More than 50 members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) will rally outside AT&T in downtown Minneapolis, calling on the multibillion dollar corporation to comply with Minnesota state law and stop denying senior employees the ability to use and be paid for personal sick leave benefits earned over decades of employment with AT&T. In June 2014, the Minnesota Department of Labor found AT&T to be out of compliance with the law and issued a directive for the corporation to comply with Minnesota statute 181.9413, paying for the sick leave benefits long-term employees have earned and deserve to use.
• 2 p.m. – Rural Task Force meets to hear a presentation on workforce development and discuss rural permitting with the Coop Network, AgriGrowth Council and Commission John Linc Stine.

Some good stats on the new Minnesota House, courtesy of the staff at Session Daily: 72 GOP, 62 DFL; 90 men and 44 women, or a two-to-one ratio; 26 newly elected members, including 21 from the GOP; 20 newly elected men, 6 women; nearly one-in-five members of the new House did not serve last session; despite all the turnover, 91 percent of incumbents were re-elected. Star Tribune

Tax revenue came in at $1.687 billion in October, up nearly 5 percent from officials’ February projections. For the year, revenue is up 0.5 percent from an earlier projection.
