Businesses Scared with America’s Struggling Middle Class

On October 14, 2014, Brendan Duke and Ike Lee with the Center for American Progress posted an article discussing how America’s biggest retailers are frightened with the ongoing struggles of the Middle Class.

  • Kohl’s talks about “decreased levels in consumer spending”
  • Sears about “a renewed decline in consumer-spending levels
  • Burger King about “decreased salaries and wages”

Corporations are concerned. Stagnant wages lead to slow growth, which leads back to lower wages.
